In this sewing tutorial, you will learn how to sew with allowances.
A sewing allowance is the extra you add around your pattern to enable you sew different pieces of fabric together e.g. the front and the back or a bodice to a skirt.
After cutting out your fabric pieces and before sewing, do the following:
1. Align the edges of the different pieces of fabrics together;
2. Pin the edges together with your dressmaker pins;
3. Use your seam guide (if you have one) or follow the calibration of your machine to ensure an even sewn allowance.
